Do you want to earn online?
Of course you do. I mean, who doesn’t. But it’s a tough world, so in order to be able to earn online, you first have to create digital products to have something to sell. Sounds logical, right?
These days, everything is about digital. I mean, you can start a store, selling something you’re making at home, like shoe laces. Great. But setting everything up so you can start is a nightmare. Then, you’ll still need to step into a digital world, because you’ll need a website with a working store software, social profiles, you’ll need advertising… And when orders start to come in, you’ll deal with stock, production, and shipping.
In fact, you could easily skip the “hardware” part by just selling digital products. Yes, you can earn online by creating digital products and sell them to people in need. But there you go, you still need something to sell. So learning how to create digital products to sell is a very interesting topic.
What is a digital product?
Shortly, a digital product can be literally anything you can create on your computer. Simple products include things like calendars, planners and coloring books. Then, there are more sofisticated digital products like software applications (how many do you have on your phone?), training courses, and similar. All these things have their market, no matter the niche.
But I have nothing I could sell..
I hear you. And I understand the frustration – everybody is telling you that you should start selling online, but nobody really tells you what to sell. Well, there are two main options for you.
Affiliate Marketing
You can easily apply for your own affiliate links at Amazon, promote the products found there, and earn commissions. This is called affiliate marketing – it’s selling other people’s products for a commission. There are many more affiliate networks out there that will gladly give you commissions in exchange for the sales you induce. These commissions can be as low as a few % (like Amazon) and as high as 100% (some software vendors) of the sales you make. Here are just a few:
Each network will require you to sign up as an affiliate, possibly with a few extra questions to see if you fit their requirements. Depending on your chosen niche (read more about choosing a niche here), you might want to filter the networks a little bit. For instance, JVZoo & Warrior+ are more oriented on digital products, while ClickBank offers a much wider field of choices, including some physichal products.
So when you get approved and get into the system, you have to choose the products to promote. This can be tricky if you’re not completely sure about the products, because not all products sell equally well. You might just grab a slow one and burn a lot of resources (time and money) on promotion, earning very little. This is definitely not the goal, is it?

All in all, that’s actually a great way to earn online, as you don’t need any stock, shop or anything – you’re just using your existing channels, like Facebook account, for instance. But it’s not the main point of this post. I trully believe this next way is much better if you’re serious about earning online.
Selling your own products
In this scenario, you will create digital products of your own and sell them to others.
This gives you all sorts of advantages, compared to affiliate marketing.
For one, doing affiliate marketing is a lot of work. While you can start selling almost immediately, as you only have to select a product to promote, you’ll do practically all the marketing for the vendor. This means you’ll post about the product, pay ads, create landing pages, email your list (yes, you should build a list!) and so on. When sales happen, you’ll get your commission, usually 50%.
Then, you might have chosen a product that is close to the end of life. So when you create some assets and pay some ads, the product vanishes. There you go, money spent for nothing.
In other words, you have absolutely no control of the product you’re promoting. It can be good or bad, sell well, but the moment vendor decides to remove it, you’re out of the game. And searching for another product begins all over, with everything included.
When you have your own products to sell, it’s different.
Yes, you’ll have to do the delopment for yourself – meaning some research, product creation, landing and delivery pages and everything in between. But once that’s done, you just have to invite others to promote it – yes, they become your affiliates. Now, you’re watching it from the other end; they’re doing the marketing and you’re just doing the support of the product and watch over income.
Surely, you’ll have to pay commissions. But if you’re paying 50% to affiliates, you still earn 50%, which is the same as when you were an affiliate, only without the work included. You get my point, right?
How to create digital products to sell
A few years ago, developing a simple product like the one I’ve mentioned above (my 5-Point Hot Offer Checklist) would take days, even weeks sometimes. Then, AI came and changed lots of things.
Let’s quickly go throught the basic steps needed to create a digital product.
- Idea Research: The first step is deciding what you want to create.
- Product Outline: The first draft of the product.
- Marketing Strategy: How will product be sold and advertised?
- Basic assets creation: You’ll need at least a good name, a great logo and a domain that resonates with the product.
- Product creation: Now you’ll have to create the product itself, so create the content.
- Pages creation: You’ll need at least a sales page, a delivery page and an affiliate page.
That’s not all, believe me, the list goes on and on. When you have all that, you’ll still need to set up payment processors, email marketing system and support system. Only then your product is good to go.
Creating digital products with AI
Lucky for us, AI has come to the rescue. Speaking about my product again (my 5-Point Hot Offer Checklist), I’ve created it the old way, writing from scratch. But then, I know a lot about the topic, so writing it was relatively easy.
But what if I wanted to create something that would help me promote golf products on ClickBank? It’s a very good niche, by the way, but here’s the catch: I know absolutely nothing about golf, so how can I write about it?!? Clearly, I can’t. But ChatGPT can. Oh, yes.
AI can help with almost every step of digital product creation
From the very first step, idea research, AI can be very useful. Basically you’ll just need to asj ChatGPT to create a few ideas based on your niche (or interest), and you’ll get them. Actually, ChatGPT 5 has become very good at all these steps.

I have to address one thing: If you put crap in ChatGPT, what you’ll get will also be crap.
This means that the better your prompts, the better the outcome will be. There’s a whole market full of people selling prompts (see, another digital product there!) that do certain things, as well as GPTs, small apps built on ChatGPT platform that do very specific things. But as with any such thing, the quality of these prompts will vary and will possibly not solve your problem in a satisfactory way. So learning and building experience is your best chance with digital products creation.
Using other people’s products to sell as your own
There’s a different kind of products that sell well, and these are the PLR products. PLR stands for Private Label Rights and it means the author is giving you the license to use it as if you’ve built it yourself. That includes customizations, you can slap your name on it and change it in any way you want.
The main thing is you get a digital product done for you, so everything about product creation is skipped.
Usually, you’ll get a product and everything you need to start selling it, like graphics, landing pages and even email sequences. It’s a great way to start, because you’ll have a product ready to sell and promote within an hour or so. So it’s only a matter of finding the ones that are good enough and will sell well.
The cost of such products is anywhere between $7 and $497, depending on the complexity, assets and support.

Don’t invent hot water!
If you’re already using ChatGPT (or Claude or any other AI), you’ll notice that the free account does lots of things. True, but I can tell you from my experience that a paid account will get you much further. I’m currently paying $20 per month to OpenAI (ChatGPT) and I’m not even looking back.
Next thing, don’t invent hot water. By this, I mean don’t go through the process by your own, learning things the hard way. It will surely take much longer for you to succeed and cost you a lot. In the worst case, you’ll simply give up at a certain point when you become overwhelmed and frustrated by things not moving your way.
There are many successful marketers who joined this game long before we did, and they know the game inside-out. So if you have a chance to invest something in your knowledge, check for trainings and courses that will enable you to shorten the learning curve.
In short, do what successful people do. This is the only way to even start repeating their success.

Get products made by others to sell as your own
There is another way to get yourself something to sell, without the need to create digital products yourself.
It’s about PLR products.
